Buying Prescription Glasses Online Doesn’t Have to Be Tough

Knowing which prescription lens type you take is just one of the things you need to understand before purchasing prescription glasses on the web. There are numerous components to consider when buying a new pair of prescription glasses, regardless of whether you are buying the glasses over the internet or in person. First, and most importantly, there is the eyeglass prescription. Depending on the strength of your eyeglass prescription, there are specific eyeglass frames that must be purchased to accommodate your prescription lenses. For example, a higher prescription may need a thicker lens and therefore require thicker eyeglass frames and a darker colored eyeglass frame to better mask the heft. Furthermore, you must consider the shape of the frame itself to determine the eyeglass lens shape.

Progressive lenses are sometimes known as no-line bifocals. These no-line bifocals are in reality trifocal lenses, but without the visible lines. Prescription glasses made with progressive lenses were developed because many people needed to have the convenience of not having to change their prescription glasses in order to read, but they did not want other people to see the visible line either. Progressive lenses have other benefits as well. With progressive lenses, or no-line bifocals, you feel a smooth transition when you move your eyes from objects in the distance to objects close up. With a lined bifocal, the transition between the two different viewing areas can be noticeable and somewhat awkward.
